Question

CIS deductions are not calculated on bills published from Dext. This has been an issue for years, when will it be resolved?

When publishing a bill from Dext, the CIS deduction amount always comes through as 0.00 even when the correct CIS category has been selected within the Dext software. We then have to go in to every single bill individually to update this amount. Why does this problem exist and why has it remained unresolved for so long?

I understand wanting to know why this happens and when it will be resolved, especially after dealing with it for years. This happens because QuickBooks only calculates tax automatically when you create a bill right inside the system. Due to third-party connection limits, apps like Dext cannot bypass that tax feature when sending bills over, which leaves the total at zero.

For now, you can continue to review and update those totals manually before submitting them to avoid any reporting surprises.

We already have our team aware of this. To help get this fixed, I recommend reaching out to Dext support to share your feedback and having them contact our developers directly so both parties can coordinate to improve this connection moving forward.

You can review this article for the process within QuickBooks: Setting up CIS payments and returns in QuickBooks.
