Question

There is no way to stop my employee who deals with transaction from seeing the bank balance, which is not what we expected. How do I stop employees from seeing this

We have one person to go through transactions but there are able to see the bank balance, which is a big no go. can we stop this? otherwise we will have to cancel the subscription with disappointment

Hi there, Rian.

 

I understand your concern about your employee being able to see bank balances while working on transactions. The good news is that with QuickBooks Online Advanced, you can set up custom user permissions to prevent this.

 

You'll need to create a custom user role specifically for employees who need to manage transactions but don’t need to see your bank balances. You can let them have access to bank transactions and restrict their access from the Chart of Accounts.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Head to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Manage Users.
  3. Click Create a new user role.
  4. Modify the new custom role to only access what's needed.
  5. Edit your employee's role to the custom role you recently created.

Hi Mark, 

I spent a couple hours last night going over this with an expert, its not possible. 

There is only one tick box for transactions, and nothing to hide the bank balance.

 

This is something that is a must for us, unless someone can give me a call and walk me through this, we will be forced to look at other options.

 

Not to mention the number of other community posts on this exact subject.

I understand the importance of keeping your account balance confidential, Rian.

 

Currently, QuickBooks doesn't offer an option to hide bank balances without also restricting access to other features. However, it would be a good idea to share this feedback with our product development team to highlight its significance.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon and choose Feedback under Profile.
  2. Enter your product suggestions in the field box.
  3. Click Next to submit.

Replying to the below as it wouldn't let me do it direct.

 

We have provided feedback on other area we would like implemented for ease of use, but this is something which is make or break, and we cannot wait a year for developers to review this request.

 

We will be speaking with our  sales rep on this.

 

There are multiple other threads on this issue, and we cannot see any progress since they were raised. it doesn't give us confidence
