Good day, sylva.

It's my pleasure to provide the help you need. To do so, I need more information regarding your QuickBooks account.

Can you share what subscription you came from? Did you migrate from QuickBooks Desktop or other third-party software? Are you using QuickBooks Online already and decided to upgrade to higher plans?

Please know that your clarification about the subscription and QuickBooks product will help us narrow down the issue with your data. I'll be on the lookout for your response.

Hi, Yes I was already a Quickbooks subscriber on the lowest plan 'self-employed' and upgraded to the small business plan as I have now registered for VA, I use it online and on my phone and it told me all my data would be migrated across. It hasn't!! None of my records of sent invoices are showing at all and I need this for my next tax return asap!

I know how urgent it is to have all your old data from QuickBooks Self-Employed, especially with your tax return deadline approaching, sylva.

First off, could you please describe how you upgraded from QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) to QuickBooks Online (QBO)? This information will help us provide the best solution to resolve your issue.

There are two possible reasons why your data wasn't transferred when you upgraded from QBSE to QBO. If you are using a web browser to upgrade from QBSE to QBO, ensure to select the option Bring my data to migrate your data successfully. In your case, it’s possible that you selected Start fresh, which is why your data was not transferred during the upgrade to QBO.

If you're subscribed to QBSE using Google Play or App Store, you can only switch to QBO manually. You'll need to open your QBSE account and manually export your data, then use the QBO Import data feature on a web browser before canceling your QBSE account.

Here's how:

  1. Log in to your QBO account.
  2. Click the Gear icon, then select Import data.

  3. Select the data you want to import.

  4. Hit the Browser button and select the file you export.
  5. Click Next, then follow the onscreen instructions.
