I'd like to setup a pre-authorized debit to pay our company subscription fee instead of using a credit card. How do I do that? The option is not active in my account.

Having options when it comes to how you pay for your QuickBooks Online subscription is important. QuickBooks gives you the option to pay through an app store, by credit card, or by direct debit. I want to help you make sure you can set up direct debit as your payment method.

To begin, it's important to know whether you've subscribed through an app store or if you've subscribed directly through Intuit. If it's through an app store you'll need to navigate there to update the billing info. If you've subscribed through Intuit you'll be able to update your billing method by accessing the Gear icon, then Account and Settings, followed by selecting the Billing and Subscription tab. 

Once you've accessed the Billing and Subscription tab you'll see your current payment method. Select the Edit pencil beside it to update your info. Here's where you'll see a drop-down menu with the option to select Pre-Authorized Debits. Simply select that option, enter your card info, ensure that the address in QuickBooks matches the one on your card statement, and hit Confirm Card. 

If after following my directions you're still unable to see an option to select Pre-Authorized Debits it's likely that you haven't yet completed the first month of your subscription. The first month must be paid by credit card, and following that you may set up Pre-Authorized Debits. If your subscription is fairly new this is likely the reason why you're not seeing the option. It may also be a result of the images and files stored in your browser's cache. Running through some browser and internet troubleshooting steps should do the trick to bring this option back for you. I'll leave some below for you to try: 

• Clear your browser cache if you're using a browser
• Clear the app cache if you're using the QuickBooks Online app for Windows or Mac
• Try a browser if you're using the app
• Try a private browser window
• Try another browser type
• Make sure you're using a supported browser and system
• Reset your Internet or try on another computer or device
