Question

Can I delete the depreciate schedule and start again from scratch?

I added fixed assets in QB in January 2025. The depreciation expense account is incorrect for some of the assets. Since I cannot change the account, I deleted all depreciation journals posted in 2025. I would like to get rid of the depreciation schedule and start again. How do I delete the depreciation schedule?

Hi there, @pamela22.

Yes, you can delete a depreciation schedule. Before proceeding, I recommend consulting your accountant to ensure your financial records and tax filings remain accurate. Since depreciation impacts taxes and reports, it's important to avoid any inconsistencies.

If your accountant confirms it’s safe to proceed, here’s how to do it:

1. Go to Accounting in the left-hand menu.

2. Select Fixed assets.

3. Locate the asset you want to delete.

4. In the Action column, click the dropdown arrow and choose Delete.

5. Confirm by clicking Delete asset.

6. Repeat for any other assets you want to update.

Once done, you can recreate the assets using the correct depreciation expense accounts.
