If your client's subscription is currently under your plan or wholesale billing, the program doesn't have a direct option to transfer a subscription from one accountant's plan to another. Instead, you'll need to pass the billing to the client first.

Before you begin, ensure your client is the Primary admin for their company file. Then, follow these steps below:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) portal.
  2. Go to Settings and select Subscriptions and billing.
  3. Click the Accountant-billed subscriptions tab.
  4. Choose a client you want to remove.
  5. In the Action column dropdown menu, pick Transfer billing to client.
  6. Select Confirm transfer.

Next, ask your client to invite the new accountant to their QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. Once the invitation is accepted, grant the new accountant permission to manage billing within the account.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings and click the Subscriptions and billing tab.
  2. Navigate to the Allow billing transfer to your accountant link.
  3. Choose the accounting firm you want to transfer billing to.
  4. Pick Allow transfer.

Once done, the new accountant can transfer the subscription to themselves. They may want to check out this article and refer to Step 4 for the detailed process: Transfer clients to your wholesale plan in QuickBooks.
