Desktop pro 2017 email does not work inside Quickbooks

Transferred my desktop Pro 2017 onto a new laptop. Cannot get Quickbooks to email invoices or other documents. Spent many hours investigating and trying to figure it out. Through AI help I was able to get a special password which supposedly is required because Quickbooks does not recognize your normal password for whatever email address you’re using. Got it to work once but Quickbooks didn’t save the password. How do you get Quickbooks to email out documents and save the password which sends them rather than go through that whole process of getting a special password.

Did you reinstall QB on Win 11?

Since you are using a discontinued version of QuickBooks Desktop such as 2017, you can no longer send emails directly through the software. However, you can still export your forms and send them manually using your personal email client.

Here's how:

  1. Open the invoice you want to save.
  2. From the top menu bar, select File.
  3. Click Save as PDF to open the Save document as PDF dialog box.
  4. Choose the folder location on your computer and type a file name.
  5. Click Save.

Alternatively, we strongly suggest switching to QuickBooks Online (QBO) because it supports secure, direct cloud-based emailing without needing special app passwords and ensures you stay compatible with modern email security standards.
