How do I go from online to desktop?

Welcome to the Community, wsingleton1030. To transfer your QuickBooks Online (QBO) data to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), export the data from QBO and import it into QBDT.

Please note that your data may appear differently after exporting it to QuickBooks Desktop. To learn more about what data exports successfully and what does not, you can check this article: Get more info about what data does and doesn't export from QuickBooks Online.

Once ready, we need to download and install QuickBooks Desktop first. Once installed, open QuickBooks and keep it running while you complete the remaining steps.

Then, sign in to QuickBooks Online and download the migration tool.

1. Go to the Export Overview page and click Get Started.
2. On the Step 1: Prepare to export page, select Continue.
3. In Step 2: Select your Data page, choose the QuickBooks Online data you want to export, then select Continue.
4. On  Step 3: Request your data page, click Continue.
5. Fill in the fields for your Name and Email address, then select Continue.
6. Click Close. 
   Note: Email confirmation may take time depending on the amount of data to migrate. Check your QuickBooks Online home page for updates.
7. Return to the Export Overview page and click Continue until you reach Step 3.
8. On the Exporting from QuickBooks Online page, select Continue to Download, then click on Download QBXML file.
9. Save the file to your desktop, then select Continue before clicking Close.
