Hello there, b-ba64402.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community about your connection issue with Square. Let’s run some basic troubleshooting steps to move past the error.

We can start by opening QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) using private browsing or incognito mode.  This method doesn't use the existing cache data files to load a webpage, which can be the reason why the issue occurs.

Here are the shortcut keys for each browser:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl+Shift+N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl+Shift+P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + E
  • Safari: press Command+Shift+N

If it works fine via a private window, I suggest going back to your default browser and clear the cache. This process will free up space in your browser and allows you to connect Square to QBSE without any errors. If the issue persists, use another browser to determine if the one you’re using is the issue.

You can read through this article to learn more about linking an account to the self-employed program: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Self-Employed. It includes instructions on how to perform this task when using a mobile device.

Additionally, this link provides an overview of classifying downloaded data: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed. From there, you’ll see the list of income and expense categories.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have additional questions about the bank feeds feature and connecting an account to QBSE. I’m more than happy to answer them for you. Enjoy the rest of the day.
