Let's first identify what type of password we need to reset, if it's the Admin or User. We can follow the steps below depending on the type. 

Reset Admin user password

1. Download the Automated password tool for QuickBooks Desktop. It helps us reset QuickBooks Admin password in any version of QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
2. Select the version of QuickBooks Desktop and let's ensure that the version of QuickBooks we last opened in our company file with, must be installed on your computer. 
3. Follow the on screen instruction in filling out the required information. 
4. Accept the license agreement. The Automated Password Reset tool will auto download. If not, select Download now. 
5. Run the Automated Password Reset tool and then enter the token number received via email.
6. From the QuickBooks Desktop Products drop-down, select the same version.
7. Select Browse for Company File, and then choose the company file you want to reset the password for.
8. Enter your New Password and then Confirm New Password.
9. Select Reset Password to complete the process.
