Before switching from QB Self-Employed to QB Simple Start, download all historical reports for your records. After the conversion, you will lose access to your QB Self-Employed account. Additionally, your Etsy shops will not reconnect automatically, so you need to link each store manually.
To begin, here's how you download your reports:
- Go to the Reports menu.
- Select a tax year under the Tax details section, then click Download.
- Download a report for each tax year you have on record.
- Repeat this process for your Profit and Loss, Mileage Log, and Receipts reports.
Once done, follow these steps to upgrade to the QB Simple Start version:
- Go to Settings ⚙, then select Upgrade under Profile columns.
- Locate Simple Start, then click Choose plan.
- Review the changes in features, then click Sounds good.
- Select Bring my data to migrate your existing records or Start Fresh if you do not want to carry data over.
- Review the data summary moving to QuickBooks Online.
- Click Continue, then To QuickBooks Online!
- Double-check your payment method, then click Change plan. If you need to change your payment method, select ✎ Edit.
- Verify your basic business details to complete setup.
Data transfer may take a few minutes depending on file size. You'll receive an email notification once the transfer is done. For more details, see this article: Switch from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Online. It also explains how to manually switch to QuickBooks Online for users who subscribed to QB Self-Employed through Google Play or the App Store.
After you're in Simple Start, you can start exploring it and reconnect your Etsy shop. Here's how:
- Go to the Integrations icon in the upper right corner.
- Click on Explore integrations.
- Once redirected to the Integrations page, search for Etsy and select Get integration now to reconnect your store.
