What is employee/contractor fee of $40per month added to payroll subscription?

The fees will depend on the type of payroll subscription you subscribe to in QuickBooks. If you're unsure of what you got, I recommend you go to your settings and check the subscription details.

Here's how:

1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner.
2. Select Account and settings below Your Company.
3. Go to Billing & subscription.
4. Check your payroll subscription.

Each employee is an additional $5/month for Core, $8/month for Premium, and $10/month for Elite. Contractor payments via direct deposit are $5/month for Core, $8/month for Premium, and $10/month for Elite.
