Question

Why does entering a VAT payment in taxes duplicate the payment in Bank transactions and cause the bank and quickbooks balances to not match?

The only way I can rectify is to delete details of the payment in Taxes or delete payment from my bank register. Either way the payment is then missing from one of them?

The duplicate payment and incorrect balance occurred because a VAT payment was entered manually, and the same transaction was added again from the For Review tab, Kitstocksupplies.

To fix the issue and correct the balance, follow these steps to undo the duplicate transaction and match it to the existing VAT payment:

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu, then select Bank Transactions.
  2. Select the Posted tab.
  3. Under the Action column, click Undo.

Then, go back to the Pending tab and select the Match button, then locate the transaction to match. Once done, hit Save.
