started QB online 10/1 after years with outside bookkeeper. Didn't think to set the account links to 1/1 so I've had to do a lot manually. My loans and CC are all set but my checking account needs me to start over (due to so odd circs)

Hi there, Margi.

You can undo the reconciled transactions of your checking account from October 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. I'll guide you through the steps.

Please note that you can only un-reconcile one transaction at a time. If you need to start over, I'd suggest reaching out to your accountant. They can undo the entire period at once using QuickBooks Online Accountant.

To undo the reconciliation, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate the checking account with the transaction and click View register.
  3. Find the transaction in the list. If it was reconciled, you’ll see an “R” in the checkmark column.
  4. Select the Box and keep clicking it until it's blank. It removes the transaction from the reconciliation.

  5. Once done, click Save.

Now that you have successfully removed the transaction, please proceed to reconcile the account once again. Be thorough in verifying each transaction to avoid discrepancies and ensure a precise reconciliation.

Please feel free to reach out if you need more assistance with this process. We are always here to help.
