We'll navigate to the Customers section in your company to create a credit note, invoicing. I also have some troubleshooting steps to make the function appear in your company.
Data accumulation can sometimes result in unexpected responses in QuickBooks Online (QBO) such as missing buttons, and webpage issues. Use a private window or incognito mode to access your company and see if the cached files in your browser are preventing the Credit memo option from showing up. Here are the keyboard shortcuts on how to bring up one in each browser:
Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N
Once logged in a private window, head to the New menu in your company and look for Credit memo under Customers. If you can see this function, follow these steps to create the entry:
Go to the New menu in the upper left of your company and choose Credit memo.
This action will open the transaction's screen.
From there, click the Customer drop-down and select the customer's name from the list.
Type the date of the entry in the Credit Memo Date field.
Enter the credit note details, such as product, amount, and other information in the fields.
Once done, press the Save and close button.
Also, shift back to your regular browser and clear the cache and cookies. This troubleshooting will delete stored files and boost its overall performance. If none of these suggestions work, use another browser to carry out this task.
