How do I recover missing bank transactions in QuickBooks Online after the bank connection kept disconnecting?

My QuickBooks and bank account connection keeps disconnecting throughout the year, and I’m missing transactions as a result. I need help retrieving all transactions from 9/10/2025 through 12/31/2025. What do you recommend?

When the bank connection has dropped and you're missing months of transactions, the fastest way to bring them in is by downloading them directly from your bank and uploading them to QuickBooks. Here's how to do both: recover the missing transactions and reduce the chance of the disconnection happening again.

Step 1: Upload the missing transactions

  1. Sign in to your bank's website and download your transaction history for the missing date range as a CSV file. Most banks let you choose the date range in the statements or account history section.
  2. In QuickBooks, go to All apps, then Accounting, then Bank transactions.
  3. Select the account, then select the Upload from file option (it appears near the Update button when the bank feed has an error or gap).
  4. Upload the CSV file. QuickBooks will map the columns (date, description, amount). Confirm the mapping and import.
  5. The imported transactions will appear in the For Review tab, where you can categorize or match them as usual.

If your bank exports in OFX or QFX format instead of CSV, those formats also upload cleanly.

Step 2: Fix the recurring disconnection

A connection that keeps dropping usually means one of the following:

  • Your bank has posted a security notice or update that requires you to re-authorize the connection.
  • Your bank's website was temporarily unavailable when QuickBooks tried to sync.
  • Your bank requires re-authentication on a regular schedule (every few months is common).

To check and refresh the connection:

  1. Go to All apps, then Accounting, then Bank transactions.
  2. Select the account with the error.
  3. Select Update to trigger a fresh sync.
  4. If you see an error code, sign in to your bank's website directly and look for any messages, alerts, or new security prompts that need your attention.

If the disconnection keeps coming back after you reconnect, contact QuickBooks Live Support. They can look at the specific connection type for your bank and help set up a more stable sync.

If you have questions as you work through the import or reconnection, we're happy to help.

Hello, Justin. You can manually upload your missing transactions from September 10, 2025, through December 31, 2025. Just download the transactions for that date range from your bank as a CSV file and then import it into QuickBooks. This process will help you capture any transactions missed during the connection interruptions.

For the connection issue, it’s a good idea to check your bank’s website for any service notices or recent updates that could be affecting the sync with QuickBooks. You may also want to update your bank feed regularly so QuickBooks can pull in the latest available transactions. If the problem persists, I suggest contacting our live support team so they can take a closer look and help get everything back on track.

You can revisit this thread if you have follow-up questions.

@justin-r-swett

You can use csv2qbo converter tool as a workaround. It's a $60 one time license.
