Question

how should I categorize a transfer from checking to savings? Both accounts are connected to QB. QB tries to make it a CC card payment. It's a transfer, not an expense?

Hi there, Speightrhue.

You are correct that a transfer between a business checking account and a business savings account is not an expense, but rather a transfer of funds within the same entity.

Sometimes QuickBooks will automatically suggest this type of transaction as a credit card payment. To categorize the transaction as a transfer, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Open the transaction.
  2. Change the type to Record as transfer.
  3. Select your business savings account in the Transferred to field.
