Under Other, select Bank Deposit. In the Add funds to this deposit section, enter half of the amount in the first line item. Select the class by choosing from the Class drop-down. You can follow the steps provided above by @SophiaAnnL if you are entering the transactions manually. But, if you are adding transactions from your Online Banking section, you can follow the steps below:

From the Banking page, click the transaction you want to split in the For review tab.
Click on the Split button beside Add.
On the Split Transaction page, enter the necessary amounts per division/class.
Click Save and add.

Once you have added the transaction, you can check your register and review it.

Hi there, LCCPA1.

Let’s turn on the class tracking feature to track location in QuickBooks Desktop. Here's how:

Go to the Edit menu,
Select Preferences.
Click Accounting,
Go to the Company Preferences tab.
Select the Use class tracking for transactions checkbox and the Assign classes to checkbox.

Once done, add your locations or class by following these steps:

Go to the Lists menu, then select Classes.
Click Create (+).
Enter the class or name of the location.
If it's a subclass, select the Subclass checkbox and find the class it's under.
Click OK to add it.

This question still hasn't been answered properly. I have both class tracking and location/division turned on in my settings. I have deposits and bills that need to be split between locations/divisions, NOT split between classes. From what I'm seeing, this isn't possible in QBO.

So, for example, when I pay my company's medical insurance bill, there seems to be no way for me to split it between two locations. Please correct me if I missed the feature somewhere...but I can't find it.
