Linking Business Bank Accounts

Hey There Folks,

I recently have had to close a business credit card account that qbo was linked with due to fraud. The bank has issued me a new credit card number. And now of course, qbo is offering me error messages stating it cannot connect to the old credit card account. My Question is, Do I edit the link to reference the new credit account number? Or Do I create a new link?

Hi, Oscortega. You don’t need to edit the link or create a new one to connect  your updated credit card account to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

Instead, you need to disconnect the old credit card account to fix the broken connection caused by the update. Before proceeding, ensure all transactions are properly categorized, as any pending transactions will be deleted. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to Accounting, then Bank Transactions.
  2. Find the tile for the old credit card account. Click the pencil icon and select Edit Account Details.
  3. Check the Disconnect this account on save box.
  4. Click Save and Close.

Once disconnected, reconnect your new credit card account by adding it again for a fresh connection and allowing transactions to sync seamlessly again.
