Hi, I have been running payroll via direct deposit for a few periods and just realized I selected it to debit "cash on hand" instead of our bank account. Our cash on hand account is now showing as negative. How do I go back and correct this?

Hi PWSSalt,

You'll want to contact our QBO Payroll Team to correct your payroll records. Then, you can update your assigned bank account in the payroll settings, so your future payrolls will be posted to the right account.

Contact our QBO Payroll Team:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Go to Help (?).
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Enter your concern, then select Let's talk.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.

Direct chat links:

Update the bank account in the Payroll Settings:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and choose Payroll settings.
  2. Click the pencil icon for Accounting.
  3. Select the pencil icon for Bank account and change the account.
  4. Click Save and then Done on the next page.
