You can manually input your balance by going into the Chart of Accounts, Fiona.

Before doing so, did you encounter any error message when trying to link your bank to QuickBooks? This distinction will help us understand the issue and deliver a suitable solution.

Here's how to manually add:

  1. Navigate to Transactions and choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate the account you wish to review. If you are new to QuickBooks.
  3. Select See your Chart of Accounts. From the Actions column, select Account History.

Also, check this article to know how to import and manually enter the data into QuickBooks: Manually add transactions to accounts in QuickBooks Online.

Finally, you can then select the transaction type, and category to apply for future transactions: Set up bank rules to categorise online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online.

We're just around the corner to help if you have other concerns about linking bank and input manually in QuickBooks.
