In QuickBooks Online, bank update frequency is fixed and cannot be manually adjusted while the account is connected. To stop automatic downloads, you must disconnect the bank feed.

To do this, go to the Bank Transactions menu, click the Pencil icon on your bank account tile, and select Edit account info. Check the box next to Disconnect this account > hit Disconnect to proceed. Please note that disconnecting the account will remove any transactions currently waiting in your For Review tab, so make sure to categorize those before proceeding.

Once the feed is disconnected, you can control the timing of your data entry by switching to manual uploads. Download a file (such as a .CSV or .QBO) from your bank's website and upload it to QuickBooks whenever you are ready. This puts you in full control of when and how transactions enter your books.

From here on out, your records will update whenever you're ready to upload a new file. Checking for overlapping dates during your uploads will help keep your records clean and make your end-of-month balancing a breeze.
