Question

I have heard it's wise not to attach your personal account to quickbooks, but I have a few credit card payments that I made from my personal. How do I properly reconcile?

Hi there,

I know how important it is to connect your bank accounts to QuickBooks Online for quick and simple reconciliations. It's totally up to you whether or not to connect your personal bank accounts to the bank feed. I'd be happy to explain how you can account for the business transactions made from your personal account.

If you have business transactions in your personal bank account, it's completely okay to connect this account to the bank feed. You can reconcile your business-related transactions, and exclude your personal ones.

To exclude personal transactions, follow these steps:

  1. Select Banking.
  2. On the Banking page, select the For Review tab.
  3. Select the checkboxes of the transactions to exclude.
  4. From the Batch actions drop-down, choose Exclude Selected.

Take a look at this article for more information: Exclude expenses from downloaded bank transactions. This method is used to exclude personal or duplicate transactions so you can reconcile properly.

I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our tech support team

Cheers.
