Happy Friday, Community, and Happy New Year! As we close out the week and look ahead to the rest of the year, many small business owners are thinking about how artificial intelligence will shape 2026. According to recent predictions from Forbes, AI is no longer just a nice-to-have tool. It is becoming a core part of how businesses operate, grow, and stay competitive.

One major shift is the rise of AI agents that can manage complete workflows, not just answer questions. From forecasting and scheduling to customer support and administrative tasks, AI is expected to handle more end-to-end processes, giving owners back valuable time. Another trend is the move toward industry-specific AI tools designed to solve real problems for niches like retail, accounting, and service-based businesses.

The article also highlights the growing importance of data quality. As AI becomes more powerful, clean and accurate records will matter more than ever. Businesses with organized financial and operational data will see better results, while poor data could hold others back. Finally, there is a renewed focus on human skills. Creativity, judgment, and relationship building remain essential as AI takes over routine work.

As you head into the weekend, this Friday is a great time to reflect on how more innovative tools and strong foundations can help your business work better, not harder, in the year ahead. I wish you all the best!

Thank you for providing the Forbes article and your insights!

As you mentioned, these AI trends are incredibly important for bookkeeping and accounting firms.  I really had a big lightbulb moment when you said: "As AI becomes more powerful, clean and accurate records will matter more than ever. Businesses with organized financial and operational data will see better results, while poor data could hold others back."

Yes!  Clean and accurate financial data is absolutely powerful.  All the small businesses and of course the bookkeeping / accounting firms have this secret power.

We use this clean data as the basis for our advisory analysis, it really is the basis for everything.  Clean data allows us to use AI models to structure data so we can apply our FP&A expertise for small business, as well as bookkeeping and accounting firms.

As the Forbes article says, AI in the hands of an expert human is the future.
