I am a sole trader and have a business account that I need to pay myself a wage but what category does this transaction come under?

If you're using QuickBooks Self-Employed, you can use the owner's withdrawal category when transferring money out of your self-employed finances for personal use. Depending on how you used it, you can classify it as a personal transaction if you spent the money for personal expenses. Otherwise, it should be business transactions if it's for business expenses.
