Why does QB keep giving credit notes to our customers?

Let's begin by examining the list of your recurring transaction templates and ensure that you haven't created multiple recurring credit note templates that are no longer needed. If you find any unnecessary template transactions, you can use the dropdown button ↓ located next to the Edit option to select and delete the respective recurring template.

Moreover, if you're referring to a situation where an overpayment results in a credit on the customer's account, you can disable the Automatically Apply Credits feature in the Account and Settings. This will ensure that any credits generated from overpayments are not automatically applied to the next invoices created. You can manually control how the credits are applied and provide more flexibility and control over the invoicing process by turning off this feature.

1. Go to Gear icon, then Account and Settings.
2. Choose the Advanced tab, then click the pencil icon 📝 in the Automation section.
3. If the button beside Automatically Apply credits is green, toggle the button to turn it off.
4. Once done, click Save.
