Active Payroll Items Missing from Enter Payroll screen (QB Desktop)

Active payroll items that I have used for 15 years have disappeared from the Enter Payroll screen in QB Desktop.  They are not showing as items I can add in Available Columns.  New active payroll items are unavailable to add as well.  There are inactive payroll items now showing up.  QB Support has been unable to help or fix.  Any suggestions.

Given that your long-standing active items disappeared while older inactive ones suddenly took their place, it's possible that an incorrect backup file was accidentally opened instead of your current file. Restoring an outdated file brings back old data, causing your recent items to disappear.

To resolve this, review your recent payroll history and check your file path by pressing F2 on your keyboard to ensure you're not working in a temporary directory. If you are, please open your most recent file.

If you confirm you're in the correct file, make sure QuickBooks is updated to the latest release and the tax table is up-to-date, then proceed to Verify and Rebuild to scan for corrupted data blocks that prevent the system from displaying your payroll items correctly.

If the issue is still the same, check if it happens in a sample company file. If it doesn't, run QuickBooks Tool Hub and use the Company File Issues tools to address any deeper file problems.

Please don't hesitate to reply below if you still encounter the same problem or if you have other questions.

Unfortunately, that isn’t it.  I was on phone with QB Support for almost 2 hours and tried all solutions before and during the call.  Apparently other people are having the same issue.  It is more than a item that has been used for 15 years disappearing from the screen.  The bigger issue is that in the Show/Hide Columns popup, active items are missing from the Available Columns list and inactive items have taken their place.

I have been able to edit a payroll check to divide the cost between two classes….until today…..now I get a message that I must upgrade (more $) to another plan to do this.  We have two employees.  This is literally something I’ve been able to do under the current plan that I’m paying for.  Very upsetting.
