Disable payroll

Welcome to the Community! I'd be more than happy to give you an answer to your question about turning off your payroll service for training purposes. 

If you need to turn off your payroll service for any reason, you'll have to cancel the service. Here's how: 

1. Browse to Employees, then Payroll Center. 
2. In the Payroll tab, choose Cancel Service. 
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. 

I know this isn't the route you wanted to take, so I recommend submitting feedback to our Product Developers. This will allow you to send in a request to our Developers about turning off or disabling your payroll service without canceling the whole service completely. They take the time to review every request and try to consider adding it in the near future. Here's how to submit feedback in QuickBooks Desktop: 

1. Select the Help menu.
2. Tap the Send Feedback Online option.
3. Choose Product Suggestion. A pop-up window displays.
4. Enter your feedback suggestion.
5. Click the Send Feedback button. The feedback is sent.
