Is there an additional charge/fee to electronically file W3/W2 through QuickBooks.

There is no additional charge/fee to filing W3/W2 electronically through QuickBooks Desktop Payroll subscription. This is already part of the subscription you paid for.

I am trying to efile w-2 with my state, which is Missouri.  Last year I was able to do so no problems.  This year I am attempting to and it keeps wanting to send 2022 again, I need to do 2023 Missouri w-2.  What can I do do fix this problem.

This year, for Missouri, you'll need to create your W2, send it to your state website, and then process it there.

 

To create a W2 file:

 

  1. Hover Employees, then Payroll Tax Forms & W-2s, and then select create State W-2 E-file.
  2. Select Continue twice and select your state from the dropdown, then choose Get QuickBooks Data.
  3. Select OK. If you need to, fix any errors or add missing info.
  4. Select the Add-Ins tab to locate the QuickBooks Payroll State W-2 dropdown and choose Start Interview.
  5. Check the box I understand that I must review my data and answer the following questions. Then select Next.
  6. Note the file name and location. Select Next. Answer the questions in the interview and review any auto-populated info.
  7. Select Next until you reach the End of Interview.
  8. Choose Create W-2 File, then select OK.
  9. Select Yes to save the Excel workbook for your records.

 

Open a web browser and go to your state agency website. If you need help finding your state agency website, see our Payroll Tax Compliance Links. Follow their instructions to upload your file once you're on your state agency website. Some states have specific file requirements, so make sure your W-2 file meets them.
