Hey there, @dozandcocare. The sudden move of your pay date depends on when you submit your payroll.

Since your pay date falls after the Juneteenth Holiday, you should've sent your payroll one business day earlier than you normally would so that you can release your employee's salary on the 20th of June.

Picture this out; if you use payroll core, you'll have a 1-day or a 5-day lead time. If you follow the one-day lead time, you should've submitted your payroll on Wednesday prior to 5:00 PM PT before the holiday to follow your scheduled pay date.

Just a heads-up-if you're following the five-day lead time, you'll want to submit payroll 5:00 PM PT on the Thursday before payday. Since weekends aren't counted as business days, sending it in early helps make sure everything goes through on time.

On the other hand, if you have the payroll premium or elite subscription and follow the same-day direct deposit or 5-day lead time. You can take a moment to read this article: How do federal holidays affect my direct deposit?

You also have the option to issue a paper check to your employees if you would like to pay them on time.

Something else to consider is streamlining your payroll processes to track your employee's time and work location easily. You can Explore QuickBooks Payroll.

Intuit screwed up the notification on the dates and will take no action to correct their mistake.  Their payroll service messaging said if you submit by 6/18, employees will get paid on 6/20.  Then when I submitted on time, the confirmation email said they would be paid on 6/23, and that the 6/20 date only applies to assisted payroll.  No where did it say that.  After speaking with payroll, they said the messaging was wrong but they won't do anything about it.  I will be contacting their Legal dept.

I experienced the same problem - i checked the site to make sure I didn't need to send it a day early and it showed wednesday as normal....and then when I checked today it said it was processing Friday 6/20 and will deposit on 6/23.....hindsight 20/20 I should have trusted my gut and still submitted it a day earlier than normal - I'll know for time moving forward but that's not going to help all of us that needed that paycheck on Friday

I think if you sent by 5pm Pacific time on 6/18, then the date would have been 6/20.  I see that you posted your question at 7:24 PM, which suggests you might have sent after 5pm. If so, then that's why the DD date pushed forward to Monday.

I got the email confirmation from Intuit on 6/18/25 11:13am that my payroll submittal was successful.   So it was 6 hrs early.  Intuit screwed up but will not attempt to correct their mistake.

When I called they said they had an internal error, their bad. I couldn't even get to a supervisor. I was also supposed to receive a letter from them stating the error and haven't. When I called to follow up, I received the runaround again. This is unacceptable. There are things QB can have an issue with, but not remitting employees direct deposits on time, or taking any accountability for it, has me furious. This is my employee's livelihood, and something I take VERY seriously. They can process online payroll in a day, why is it with desktop they dropped the ball? Especially when the letter from them on the holiday and how it affects payroll for the week clearly stated to run it like normal. I tried to upload the letter from QB, but it won't let me and I see someone else already has. There is also no place to seem to be able to file a complaint with them. I am reaching out to BBB and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, but not sure how to escalate this further.
