How can I pay a contractor direct deposit without having any employees???

Hello, rcicco. You'll have to ensure you set up a contractor profile and their direct deposit information so you can pay them with direct deposit in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Contractor Payments. I'll elaborate on the process below.

Even without employees with QuickBooks Payroll and Contractor Payments (you can sign up even without QBO or Payroll subscription), you can use direct deposit to pay your contractors and file 1099s. If you're using QBO and QuickBooks Contractor Payments, here's how to set up a contractor profile:

1. Go to Expenses, then select Contractors.
2. Select Add a contractor.
3. Enter your contractor’s information or select the Email this contractor checkbox so they can fill it out.

If you're using QuickBooks Contractor Payments without QBO, follow these steps:

1. Go to Expenses, then select Contractors.
2. Select Add a contractor.

After that, add your company's bank details and your contractor's direct deposit information.

You need to make sure they are marked as a 1099 vendor in the vendor set up and then you will be able to pay them.
