I tried following steps I found online, but they didn't work. Please give me guidance to how to set this up.

You can enter your Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program (FAMLI) deduction by setting and creating a policy for your employees, Kim.

First, we need to set up and create a policy for your employees. To generate the policy, you can follow the steps provided below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then Payroll Settings.
  2. Find Colorado tax and click Edit.
  3. Select Create Policy under Colorado Paid Family and Medical Leave Tax (PFML).
  4. Enter the number of employees and your Colorado FAMLI Agency ID, and add a Policy Name.
  5. Fill in the start date and contribution percentages for employer and employee.
  6. Click Save

After creating a policy, we can proceed to add the policy to your employee so you can successfully enter their deduction:

  1. Navigate to the Payroll menu, then Employees.
  2. Choose your employee.
  3. From Tax withholding, click Edit.
  4. Under the State withholding, select the Assign policy.
  5. Choose the policy name you set up in Step 1.
  6. Select Save, then Done.

You can visit this article for reference about setting up and tracking paid family medical leave in Colorado: Set up Colorado Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program (FAMLI).

I'll include this reference that might help you generate reports to track your business performance in QuickBooks: Run reports in QBO.

I have tried these steps before asking for support. When I click on the payroll settings, I see a Colorado Tax option that I can edit, but if I click on the edit, the only thing that populates is the withholding tax. There is not a PFML listed or a create policy option. That is where I am stuck. How do I get this added so that I can create the policy?

Thanks for getting back with the Community, kim266.

It sounds like you might've already created a policy for Colorado FAMLI. If so, when you go to your Colorado tax section of Payroll settings and click Edit, you'll see a Colorado Paid Family and Medical Leave Tax (PFML) area you can edit next to a policy.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear icon, then go to Payroll settings.
  2. From Colorado tax, click Edit.
  3. Under Colorado Paid Family and Medical Leave Tax (PFML), click Edit next to the policy you want to edit.
  4. Edit its rate and hit Save.
  5. Select Save, then Done.

If you're still not seeing what should be displayed on the Colorado tax section of your Payroll settings, I'd recommend troubleshooting the browser you're using.

It's possible this could have something to do with temporary internet files. Browsing applications store these types of records, but sometimes they can cause issues with certain webpages. You can open a private window and check to see if the screen displays correctly.

Here's how to access incognito mode in some of the most commonly used web browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

Perform your troubleshooting steps in this order:

  1. Try using a private or incognito browser.
  2. Restart your browser.
  3. Clear your browser's cache.
  4. Add Intuit as a trusted site.

Also be sure to confirm you meet each of the platform's system requirements. When some requirements aren't met, QuickBooks may not function as expected.

If you've performed each of the troubleshooting processes above, but the screen still isn't displaying what it should, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a great Thursday!
