You can change your employee’s SSN by visiting your employee profile in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
Let me guide you by following the steps below:
Go to Payroll, then Employees.
Pick which employee.
On the Personal info section, click on Edit.
Tap View/Edit on the greyed-out Social Security Number tab.
A prompt asking for a verification code will appear, follow its onscreen instructions.
When finished, select Save.
However, if you have already filed your W-2 form and need to make changes, you'll need to submit an amended form. I recommend checking out this article, which explains who will be responsible for fixing your W-2 forms based on whether or not you have automated taxes and forms settings in your QBO account: Fixed an incorrect W-2 and W-3 forms.
Furthermore, learn how to update employee information in your payroll product by referring to this helpful article: Edit or change employee info payroll.
Feel free to comment if you have more questions about your W-2 form in QBO. I’m just a post away. Have a good one!
