How to pull an employee's W2 from 2021?

QuickBooks Online retains filing forms for one year, and QuickBooks Online (QBO) allows you to archive payroll forms after or during submission, jwmusick.

To pull up the W-2 forms that were archived from prior years, please follow these steps:

1. From My apps, click Payroll dropdown.
2. Choose Payroll taxes, hit the Filing tab.
3. Select Archives. You can use the Filter option to narrow down your search to 2021.

If you are unable to find the form there, I recommend contacting the Payroll Live support team.  They have tools to pull up past years' W-2 forms as long as they've been moved to the archive.

If not, retrieval is not possible. An alternative would be to use a blank W-2 form and manually enter the details using the payroll reports (from 2021) to make sure the information is accurate.
