Question

I am a pro advisor and my phone number is showing up on the 1099's I am preparing for a client of mine. Where is QB pulling this information?

Hi eenermure,

Let's get this phone number removed and get your 1099's printed the way you want it.

If you set up a phone number on the account, it'll show on the form every time you're trying to prepare 1099's.

If you don't want it to show on the 1099's, you'll need to remove your phone number from your contact information section. Here's how.

Click on the Gear icon, choose Account and Settings.
On the Company panel, select Contact info and click on the pencil icon.
Change or remove the Company phone you set up.
Click Save.

I am having the same issue. My personal cell phone (connected to my account for two-factor authenitication) is showing up on the 1099s. The company phone numbers are correct in quickbooks under company settings and there was NO WHERE in the 1099 process to change the phone number (I did this for three companies) from my cell to the company number. Too late now, but hoping this can be resolved for next year/future cases.

In QuickBooks Online, the default phone number in your company profile is the same information that will appear on your 1099 forms.

It'a a great idea to be able change phone number in the 1099 process. We can see how this feature would be useful in the system but I will forward this request to our product engineers so they may consider this for future upgrades.

If this feature is necessary to your business, let our product engineers know.

Here's how:

Click the Gear icon at the top then select Feedback.
Enter your comments or product suggestions then click Next.
You’ll be provided with a list of suggested Help articles related to your comment. You can read through them or select Skip and send message.
From the drop-down, choose the appropriate category then select Send message.

This feedback is submitted to the Product Development team which is then considered for inclusion in future product updates.

This happened to me too! I even tried removing my phone number from my main account, and it didn't help. So hundreds of my clients' contractors now have my personal cell number. This is a major bug. Did anyone find a workaround for this year?

I appreciate you for doing the steps which my colleague @Mark_R provided above, sarahmroue.

I'd suggest trying the troubleshooting steps which @IamjuViel posted and see how it works for you.

If the same thing happens, I'd recommend speaking to our QuickBooks Customer Care Team. This way, our phone agent will be able to check on your account and identify the cause of this issue.

In the e-file service screen, where you can review your 1099 info and download their 1099's, there is a small link on the bottom left side that says "Company Settings - Change your company information for all your 1099s such as your legal address and EIN." THAT is where you you need to change your 1099 company settings. I did that and it fixed the problem.
