To resolve this, delete and recreate any unsubmitted paper checks using the correct pay date. For direct deposit runs or locked tax periods, you’ll need to reach out to our Intuit Expert for a backend adjustment or enter an adjusting journal entry.

In QuickBooks Online Payroll, you cannot directly edit the pay date on a processed pay run because statutory payroll source deductions and CRA filings are legally reported based on when wages are paid rather than when the work was performed.

Here is how to delete and re-create misdated manual paychecks before CRA remittances are submitted:

  1. Go to the All apps and then Payroll menu.
  2. Select Employees and click the Paycheque list link under the Run payroll button.
  3. Select the misdated paycheck you want to fix.
  4. Click the Dropdown arrow below the Action column and select Delete or Void at the bottom of the paycheck screen and confirm by selecting Delete or Void Paycheque.
  5. Return to Payroll and select Run payroll.
  6. Enter the correct pay date in April or May in the Pay date field.
  7. Re-enter the wage amounts for your employees and select Submit payroll.

For direct deposit runs, filed quarterly taxes, or reporting workarounds, please reach out to our Intuit Support Experts to safely apply these corrections. Refer to this article for more details: Get help with QuickBooks products and services.
