Starting a new set of books on QB Desktop 2000 and I dont have access to payroll anymore

I have added a new set of books to my QB 2000 desktop, but I cannot access payroll anymore. I did not even reinstall the program. I just opened a new set of business books. I have access to payroll on the old account, but not the new account.

How do I fix this?

Hello there, @WashCnty.

I understand how important it is for you to have payroll services available in your new company file. However, QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2000 is a legacy version that has been discontinued. Since it no longer receives updates, the payroll function is not accessible in newly created files.

You'll want to consider upgrading to the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise. This will provide continued support, access to new features, and regular updates.

Check out these resources to help you with installing QBDT after upgrading to the latest version:

No,  I do not have internet access and an online cloud service will not work for me. I just need to be able to use the program that I have for the use I paid for.
