Question

why it is not showing in my E-Filing History?

Hello,

I successfully e-filed my Form 941 using QuickBooks Desktop 2024.

I received the "Accepted Tax Return" email from Intuit, and my QB Tracking Number is 14273972814.

However, the filing does not appear in the E-Filing Status/E-Filing History in QuickBooks.

My 2nd quarter filing appears correctly, but only the 1st quarter filing is missing, even though it was accepted.

Could you please verify the status of QB Tracking Number 14273972814 and explain why it is not showing in my E-Filing History?

Thank you.

You can officially verify your filing directly through the IRS or QuickBooks support, as its disappearance from your history screen is simply a local issue caused by the system losing the file path to your saved PDFs.

Here are two quick ways to find your file or restore your history screen.

First, search your computer, as your Q1 941 file may be saved in a different folder. You can perform a wildcard search to help find it:

  1. Open your Windows File Explorer.
  2. Click on This PC or your C: Drive.
  3. Type *.pdf in the top-right search bar to search your entire computer.
  4. Look for a PDF file from April or May that includes your business tax ID and references "941".

The second option is to recreate the history link by prompting QuickBooks to display the form on your history screen again:

  1. Go to Employees, then Payroll Center.
  2. Select the File Forms tab.
  3. Highlight Quarterly Form 941 and click File Form.
  4. Choose Quarter 1 and let the software fill in your numbers.
  5. Do NOT click E-file (since you already filed it).
  6. Click Save as PDF or Print instead. This action repairs the broken link and restores the form to your history list.
