Can we not add a business owner to an employee list for the quickbook payroll? "The name supplied already exists. Please use a different name."

Hi there minak-metrized-c,

It's vital that all your transactions be entered correctly so your books can be well balanced. QuickBooks Online Payroll is a great tool able to help pay employees for the hours worked for your company. I can provide some information about this error.

A name can only be used once in the software, so if you have a Customer or a Supplier that has the same name as the one you're trying to use for your Employee, you'll receive that error message. In order to free up the name so you can use it for the Employee, you'd need to change the name of your Customer or Supplier to have at least one character different in the name. This can be done by adding a title (such as Mr, Ms, etc), adding a period after their name, or if possible adding a nickname.
