Question

I'm trying to complete the Jan 3/20 payroll for a client but I keep getting the error that a negative payroll cannot be run. Why?

There are no negative amounts entered and I have checked the employee information to see if the pay per hour and the deduction amounts are correct.

Hi lcallison,

It's great that you're already prepared to run your first payroll of the new year! I want to thank you for including the pay date and error message in your question, since those provide a lot of insight into what's happening. The error you're receiving is a result of the pay date being in 2020, for which tax rates aren't available yet. In order to ensure maximum accuracy of payroll calculations, tax tables for 2020 are scheduled to be updated later this week when they are received from the government. You'll be able to run payroll in time for January 3rd shortly.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with today.
