I'm thrilled to hear that you've chosen to work with QuickBooks Online to take advantage of the option to manage your payroll alongside your books. I'd be happy to show you the ropes of working with the QuickBooks Online Payroll module so you can complete pay runs and create paycheques or pay stubs for your employees.
The first thing to do when you want to work with QuickBooks Online Payroll is make sure you're logged into QuickBooks Online using a browser. You mention the app, which sounds to me like you may be using the mobile app, and that's a good option for some on-the-go tasks, but doesn't come with the full functionality of the program. Payroll is one of the features not included in the app, which is why logging into via a browser is key. I also encourage you to make sure that you have a supported browser for QuickBooks Online so that you can minimize product issues.
To login via a browser, head to qbo.ca, hover over Sign In, choose QuickBooks Online, and then enter your login information. Once logged in, you can see the Payroll module by selecting Payroll from the left menu. If you haven't yet signed up for Payroll, you'll see the options Set up payroll or Add an employee. To use the Payroll add-on service, which is where you'll have the opportunity to complete pay runs and create pay stubs, click Set up payroll and select some of the features you'd like to see what the program suggests. QuickBooks Online Payroll is our program's built-in option, whereas Wagepoint is a third-party service that you can learn more about by visiting their website: Wagepoint Canada
After you turn on QuickBooks Online Payroll, navigate to the Employees section and select Get started with payroll to begin the setup process. If you previously set up payroll, you'll see options like Run Payroll instead. I recommend taking a look at the articles in our QuickBooks Online Payroll help article hub to learn more about the setup process, the tasks you can complete in the module, and more. When your setup is complete, you can run payroll to produce paycheques and stubs.
It's also important to keep in mind that this module comes at an additional cost, which you can see outlined here: QuickBooks Online Payroll
