To record historical payroll tax payments, it's recommended that you match the total year-to-date amounts as of the 1st of the month, for which you began using the payroll module to match your employee's historical payroll. These payments don't post any debits or credits to your Chart of Accounts.
Here's how to create historical payroll tax payments:
1. From the left menu open Taxes
2. Select Payroll Tax at the top
3. Choose Enter prior tax history
4. Hit Add Payment
5. Enter the details including the period start, end, and payment date. Be sure to include the breakdown of each tax type that you paid
6. When you're finished, select OK
