Question

I was late paying my employees (new business) and the pay ended up as a January date. How can I change this so their T4s reflect it properly?

Hi @kim276, the paycheque date in QuickBooks determines which tax year the wage is reported on the T4. Under Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) rules, wages must be reported in the year they were paid to the employee.


Since you were late paying your employees and the paycheques show a January 2026 date, they'll appear on their 2026 T4s. If the payment was intended for December 2025, the paycheque needs be corrected to December 2025.

  1. Navigate to the Help (?) icon.
  2. Proceed to the Search tab.
  3. In the bottom section, click Contact Us.
  4. Enter a brief summary of your concern.
  5. Select Continue to proceed.
  6. You can choose how to connect with us through Chat or Callback.
