Question

Is it possible to delete a T4 summary I marked as filed? I made an error and I need to unfile it.

Is it possible to delete a T4 summary I marked as filed? I made an error -- I forgot to record a payroll tax payment I made outside of quickbooks so the amount is incorrect.

Hi there, sheribuhr. Once T4s are submitted, they cannot be deleted. To correct errors, you must file an amended slip. To remove a filing entirely, you must file a cancelled slip.

To start, have you already submitted these forms to the CRA? It will help us better understand what's happening on your end and allow us to deliver an effective resolution.

For detailed guidance on correcting or voiding your T4s, please refer to the following official CRA pages:

If you haven’t submitted these to the CRA yet, follow the steps in this article to delete and re-create T4s in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Thank you for your response however, there is no delete option in any drop-down menu.
I have not yet filed anything with the CRA. I  need to delete it out of QuickBooks and refile (in qb)  with the correct amounts on the summary.

To clarify, I do not need to delete the employee T4 - I need to delete the Employer Summary

Hi sheribuhr, QuickBooks treats the entire T4 package as one single file. That's why you aren't seeing a delete button for just the Employer Summary.

Deleting this file under the Employee Slip won't affect your payroll records. The form will return to the Action Needed section within the Filings tab and will be available for corrections.
