Question

I want to report the 1/11 GST on insurances but can't find that category in the "types,of GST" section...its not 10%...? How can i enter it manually?

If you're referring to how to record insurance with GST, you can code the transactions with GST 10%, GST free and, Out of scope.

 

If you need to record the insurance with different GST calculations, you can create a Journal entry using below:

 

  1. Debit Insurance account.
  2. Debit GST Liability payable account.
  3. Credit Bank account.

However, using the journal entry will not calculate or show the GST in the BAS report.

 

As a workaround, you can create an Expense or Bill and manually adjust the GST amount. Here's a screenshot for your reference:

 

 

 

We recommend also contacting your accountant to get more information on how to record the insurance as they're the best ones to recommend what tax code to use.
