Hi, Nur. Yes, it is definitely possible and a highly recommended setting to save you from manual data entry.
QuickBooks Online (QBO) has a built-in feature that automatically copies the raw bank description into the Memo field of every transaction you add.
By default, QBO often cleans up the bank description to suggest a vendor name, which can sometimes hide helpful details (like transaction IDs or specific locations). To preserve the full description in the memo:
Go to All apps, then choose Accounting.
Select Bank transactions.
Click the Gear icon located directly above the list of transactions (on the right side of the screen, not the main header gear).
Check the box for Copy full bank description to memo.
Tip: Consider checking Show full bank description in this same menu so you can see the raw bank text right next to the cleaned-up description while you work.
If you have any additional questions or need further assistance with setting up the memo field or other features in QBO, don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to help you make your bookkeeping process as smooth and efficient as possible.
