2016 Pro Desktop won't launch

Running Desktop Pro 2016 on Windows 11 on an Acer E15 Laptop.  One day it was working fine the next day it wouldn’t open.  The welcome screen opens and then closes without launching the program.  I’ve re-installed, change compatibility mode, ran QB Tool hub, repaired the program, and contacted QB Tech Support (they would not help me to troubleshoot the problem).  I also uninstalled several windows updates that occurred right around when QB stop working. The company file opens on another computer.  Is there a fix?????

Restoring your QuickBooks welcome screen after a failed update requires clearing local user settings and entitlement data files that commonly trigger this crash. Since reinstalling, repairing, and using the Tool Hub haven't resolved it, we need to focus directly on these remaining configuration files.

This file stores your last-used settings and frequently becomes damaged if a Windows update interrupts an active session. Follow these steps:

  1. Close QuickBooks completely.
  2. Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and end any QBW32.exe processes still running.
  3. Open File Explorer and go to: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Intuit\QuickBooks 2016\
  4. Right-click QBWUSER.INI and rename it to QBWUSER.INI.old.
  5. Relaunch QuickBooks and see if the welcome screen stays open.

If the welcome screen still fails to stay open, a corrupted license registration file is the next most likely cause. To fix, follow these steps:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Go to C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8 (the folder name may be v6 or v8 depending on your install).
  3. Delete the file named EntitlementDataStore.ecml.
  4. Reopen QuickBooks. You will be prompted to re-validate your license; enter it. This rebuilds the file from scratch and clears out the corruption.

If the issue persists, try this specific utility through the Tool Hub; run it to terminate lingering background tasks:

  1. Open the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. Go to Program Problems.
  3. Select Quick Fix my Program.
  4. Let it run, then try opening QuickBooks again.

Since your company file opens fine elsewhere, your data is secure. This confirms the problem is limited to this laptop’s settings or licensing, not file corruption.
