Browser issue is the most common reason of the unexpected error you're getting when managing your invoices. Please know that the online platform uses the browser’s cache to run faster. However, these can sometimes become corrupted, which affects QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) functionalities.

You can perform some troubleshooting steps to rectify this. First, open your QBSE account in a private or incognito window for testing. Here are the shortcut keys below for quick navigation:

• Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
• Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
• Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
• Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

Once logged in, check if you're still getting the said message. If you can manage your invoices smoothly, get back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Doing this helps the program to run seamlessly. Another way to determine if it's a browser-related issue is to use other supported browsers.
