can I install QB Desktop 2020 in the new Ipad Pro?

Installing QuickBooks on your iPad isn't possible. Instead of the traditional software, there is a QuickBooks app that you can connect and access through your iPad.

But the original question was regarding quickbooks desktop, not quickbooks online. Is there a way to use an ipad to use & sync with the quickbooks desktop file, other than remotely controlling the desktop computer?

I like the features of the desktop version of quickbooks but sometimes need to remotely use the file.

The ability to use and sync with iPad is only available in QuickBooks Online. I'll take note of this and we'll look forward to seeing this on the next update.
