I have QB Pro2010 and prefer to not invest in another product.   Any step by step assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you,

I'll share some information about QuickBooks Pro 2010 compatibility, JANFRANK.

As what my colleague MarsStephanieL have mentioned, QuickBooks Pro 2010 is no longer supported and compatible with Windows 10 that's why the system is preventing you from installing it. Windows 10 is compatible only with QBDT 2015 and later.

I've listed the supported QuickBooks versions below that work seamlessly with Windows 10:

  • QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier and Enterprise Solutions 2020
  • QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier and Enterprise Solutions 2019
  • QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier and Enterprise Solutions 2018

Since you don't want to upgrade your QuickBooks, we can downgrade your operating system so that you'll be able to install QuickBooks Pro 2010. I would recommend reaching out to an IT support to be guided in downgrading your OS. Once done, you can follow these steps in installing the program:

  1. Open the installer file you've downloaded (QuickBooks.exe).
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  3. Accept the software license agreement, then select Next.
  4. Enter your Product and License numbers, then click Next.
  5. Select Express and then Next.
  6. Select Install.
  7. When it finishes, select Open QuickBooks to get started.

You can visit this article for more information about this process: Install QuickBooks Desktop.

If you already have a back up of your company file before, you can refer to this link in restoring it to your device: Restore a backup of your company file.

Hover the mouse on the installer file, click the right button and choose Properties. Find the Compatibility tab and choose Win 7. Then run the installer file as Administrator.

ps. something wrong with your capslock?

Sorry about the capslock.   I do not know where to find the installer file.  Microsoft 10 does not allow me to download the QB program so there is no file for that.  I downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).  That option did not work for the 1603 fix.  I am stumped.

I sincerely appreciate your assistance.

I can help share some information regarding the error message you're getting when trying to update your QuickBooks, REGLPR.

Error code 12007 occurs when some computer security settings blocking to download of QuickBooks Desktop or Payroll updates. I've listed down below some of the possible reasons that might have caused the error:

  • Firewall or Internet security settings might be blocking the program to access the server.
  • Desktop is unable to establish a connection for QuickBooks.
  • The antivirus program is conflicting between the QuickBooks updates.
  • Internet Explorer settings aren’t set up correctly.
  • Internet Explorer has not been set as the default browser.
  • Incorrect setting of your SSL can also lead to QuickBooks Error Code 12007.

I've got the steps on how to get rid of the error message. We can review the Internet Explorer settings. Here's how:

  1. Close QuickBooks Desktop and open Internet Explorer.
  2. Select Tools, and then Internet Options.
Note: Press Alt on the keyboard if you can't find Tools.
  3. On the Security tab, select the Globe icon and make sure the security level is no higher than Medium-high.
  4. On the Connections tab, select Never Dial a Connection if you do not use the dial-up node (DUN) on the system, or select the correct ISP if you do.
  5. Select OK.
  6. Select LAN Settings, then make sure the automatically detect settings is selected, and check whether Use a Proxy Server checkbox is clear.
If Use a Proxy Server are selected, document the complete address and port.
If the port is other than port 80, do not uncheck the Use a Proxy Server option.
If the port is port 80, you can clear the checkbox for testing purposes.
  7. Select Ok.
  8. On the Advanced tab, select Restore Advanced Settings, and, under Settings, locate Use TLS 1.2, and verify it is selected.
(These options may not be in your Internet Explorer version.)
  9. Select OK.
  10. Close Internet Explorer and restart your computer.

Once done, try to run updates once again.

If you're still getting the same result, please check to get help with errors 12002, 12007, 12009, 12029, and 12031 when updating to learn more troubleshooting steps to resolve this error.

I'd appreciate it if you'd update mi on how the steps work. I want to make sure you're able to update seamlessly in QBDT. If you have any other related concerns, please do add them below. I'll be right here to help you out.
